Austria | FFG Basisprogramm 2026
Checked 9 October 2026
STATUS
Open for rolling submission through 31 December 2026 at 11:00 (FFG system time). FFG reports seven funding decision sessions per year. Intake is rolling, but a submission does not guarantee funding.
PURPOSE AND SUPPORT
The national FFG instrument supports company experimental-development projects with commercial exploitation potential across technologies, including digital innovations. Companies define their own research topics and key technologies. SMEs, startups and large companies may apply. Cooperation is optional. The current FFG listing says project volumes of up to €3 million are possible; support is usually 50% of project costs and can reach 70% for startups, subject to the applicable guide, company size, eligible costs and financing review. Applicants must show they can finance their own contribution. Most projects are funded in annual stages, with continuation applications for longer projects.
SCREENING FOR SHOPFLOOR COPILOT
A factory software product could fit the open technology scope if the proposed work is genuine experimental development with technical novelty, risk and a credible commercial exploitation plan. The programme is not a grant for routine product development or ordinary deployment. Austrian applicant status, technical work plan, novelty, eligible costs, financing and aid history are unconfirmed. Assessment: THEMATICALLY RELEVANT; ELIGIBILITY NOT ASSESSABLE.
APPLICATION
Submit in FFG eCall with a complete project description, work packages, cost plan and financing. Business plans, CVs and other attachments may be required depending on the project and applicant. Review the current Basisprogramm and Experimental Development guides before estimating support.
